Watching elephants play a game of polo

Posted by paul on February 7th, 2009 filed in Attractions, Day trips, tourist tips

Thai elephants are fast, intelligent and big and one of the best spots to see these mighty mammals up close is at this year’s edition of the King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament, which takes place from March 23 to 29 in Chiang Rai.

This exotic and unique sport event brings together international as well as local polo players, together with many wonderful people. The games take place at the beautifully situated Anantara Golden Triangle Resort, overlooking the hills of Laos and Burma. The tournament starts with a jaw-dropping elephant parade and end in style with a charitable dinner.
