Favourite bar in town
Posted by admin on March 29th, 2010 filed in Living here, Locals, tourist tipsOne of my favourite bars in Chiang Mai is found by the small carpark area sandwiched between Huay Kaew Road opposite Hillside Condo 4 and Sirimuangkarajan Road. Small House has a relaxed vibe, great eclectic hip hop and rock tunes blaring out, the friendliest staff in town plus all the best live football on the box.
The bar used to be found up near CMU past canal road, but is thriving in its new location within the buzzing Nimanhaeman nightlife catchment area. There is free WiFi for anyone who brings their laptop – which girls frequently do to keep up with goings on on Facebook while the boys watch the football – plus all manner of books, board games and distractions.
Jenga or table football is always great fun after a few beers and helps break the ice with newcomers. The crowd is a healthy mix of locals and young expat teachers from the language schools nearby. Food is not offered but you can bring whatever you fancy to eat at the bar and Chris or Daew, the ever-cheerful proprietors, will even provide plates for you. For a true taste of Chiang Mai there is no better place to go, and the drinks are some of the cheapest in town as well!
