Second smile party a hit
Posted by admin on April 5th, 2010 filed in Attractions, Living here, tourist tipsSaturday night saw the second Smile party up at Huay Tang Tao reservoir and everyone was delighted with the way it was received. The bands played funky music, the vibe was chilled and apart from an obnoxious drunken Australian stealing my beer an extremely enjoyable time was had by all and sundry.
Entrance cost 200 baht but with six live bands playing all genres from jazz and blues to ska and Latin it really could not be considered that expensive. And after the obligatory 20-minute power cut the djs took centre stage with eight record spinners taking us into the early hours with hip hop, techno and electro tunes par excellence.
There was great food provided from kebabs to Indian curry and enough Chang beer to keep the crowds suitably sozzled. But why must they persist with using these tokens as I always end up with a pocketful when I awoke on Sunday morning with absolutely no way of cashing them back in. Oh, I may have just answered by own question there.
And there’s another two-day party taking place at the reservoir at the weekend with about 60 musical acts taking part. The Chiang Mai Beach Party promises to be a fun festival for the whole family which will kick off early so remember your swimming costume as well. Click here for more information.
